Only 2 episodes in but pretty informative and with  Chris Mayhew learning and doing a card trick at the end of each show. Check it out.

rready, thanks for bringing this to our attention.  I hadn't heard of it.  I've seen Chris Mayhew before and he has a unique sense of humor.  Pretty deadpan sometimes but a little off the wall others.

Regarding the discussion of "things magicians hear and assume are true", I find that to be a very interesting topic.  The old adage that "people don't like card tricks" probably stems from Uncle Herb doing the 21 card trick (badly).

We here have seen a lot of top flight card magic in our time.  Most of the public has seen very little if any.

I liked the deadpan with James Alan's dog. Some of the best effects go unsaid.

This video is a reminder to all of us that books on our shelves have hidden gems in them.  So don't chase after the "latest" trick, go back and pore through your existing library and pan for gold.

I loved it. The ‘Ben Reads Books’ helped me think about the contribution of the Spanish School from a book I’d probably never get; some books just don’t turn up secondhand (maybe a little overstated). Each contributor opened up some aspect of magic in a thoughtful, informed - and yet quirky way. I resonate with quirkiness.
