The Lucky Coin is a neat little trick from Volume 1 of Card College - well worth checking out if you don't already know it.

Yes, it is. I used to perform the same effect with a "sleightly" different method. Jon Racherbaumer included it under the name Drospy Diddle in his lecture notes titled Inside Tracks, in 1992. Jon attributes the effect to Eddie Fields.

For what it's worth, Bob Sheets used to perform (and sell) a version he called Gothcha, that used the cheek-to-cheek principle. In Bob's hands it was hilarious, and I bought the trick from him, but tended to prefer the ungimmicked version from Racherbaumer.

This is a fun trick to perform, and a great way to practice the top change. Thanks for reminding me of it!

Even my top change would fly by under that much cover from the coin reveal. Nice routine.
