I recently ordered a product and paid for 1-4 day mail and (according to tracking) it has been sitting in the same West Coast city for 5 days.  I understand that the postal system is under duress bc of Covid-19 and other exigencies, but I was curious if anyone else has experienced slower than normal shipping times.

If this is the case, are there any retailers that ship from the Midwest or South that could be used in interim?  I mainly buy books if that helps.

Hope all are well ...

Yes, I've purchased many items from UK during this pandemic. Most of them took between 3 weeks to 2 months before I received my packages. All you can do you wait at this point.

I think the USPS is getting blamed for a lot of things that aren't their fault. I only trust a couple of stocking dealers to actually ship was when promised. So many are just conduits for a Murphy's drop ship, which is less than perfect. Other times the dealer will print the label and wait to receive the product. Even Media Mail is running ok in general.,Things may be a day or two slower, at times, but that's about it.

My recent book order from England took about 10 days and that was including July 4.

In a lot of cases, the Virus is just one more useful excuse. It may be the dealer, it may be the post. But for my money, there's something else going on.

As for the UK, I ordered a couple of non-magic books a few weeks ago and it took 16 days in each case. This, despite an email saying that the books had been despatched the day after ordering. According to the delivery information, the warehouse is about a hundred miles from where I live.

I also ordered some stuff from a Jersey (Channel Islands) based firm on Saturday 11th July. They were despatched the following day, from Gibraltar and arrived on Thursday 16th July.

I see the postie regularly and have asked him how things are going. The general reply is that things aren't as bad as they were at the beginning, and there are still difficulties, but mostly everything is trundling along reasonably.

As already noted, we sit and wait.
