I was thinking of exploring marked card effects, principles and techniques - an area I haven't really got much experience with. And with Xmas just round the corner I might even be able to get hold of a not-too-expensive book (or DVD).

So, any recommendations? [smile]

Take a look at Daryl's Card Revelations DVDs.
Since you already know what the card is, you now need some good ways to reveal it.
There are maybe 4 or 5 DVDs that he put out. Try one and see if you like it.
If I remember correctly, there is some overlap on some of the DVDs.

Check out John Luka's book LINT for a routine called The Birthday Book by John Morgan. It's simple, yet strong.

Best,

Hi Chris!

You don't say if you already have a marked deck and just want the effects or if you want to mark your own decks and then do something with them. Here are some suggestions.

This book is about the Boris Wild marked deck. The problem with this deck is that in order to mark your own deck, you need a certain something that is most likely not sold anymore. I haven't been able to get it anywhere. I guess the best thing would be to buy the decks already marked, which are not easily found either.

This is another book that will teach you how to mark a deck with nothing but something you can buy at a stationery store. It also has some tricks to get you started.

There was another book with several ways to mark cards but I don't remember its name. It is quite old and probably out of print.

There are also some decks that are already marked, like the Phoenix deck. If you buy a set (on Penguin magic for example $40, but they seem to be out of stock at the moment) you get a DVD with some effects where you use those decks.

You can also get a new marked deck, and they come with online instructions on how to use them.

These are just some suggestions off the top of my head. If you have an online shop you trust, you could go there and type "marked deck" and probably they carry something you can use.

Cheers for the suggestions so far guys [smile]

To be clear, I have a marked deck (or four!) at home, but never really use them as I never really found anything interesting to do with them other then, well, stuff I could do pretty much the same without the marks (if you get what I mean). I never really put much thought into them.

In my searches I've come across mentions of the Boris Wild transparency book, the Kirk Charles book and DVD, and Dobson's marked for life booklet, but I can't say I know much about any of these other than the titles! [smile]. Does anyone have these or similar resources?

I don't have the transparency book but I have the Remarkable Card Magic DVD set that L&L published a while ago where Boris explains the marks on his deck and some effects.

I would also suggest my fourth/last suggestion in my previous post. Get some decks and they give you access to the videos where they explain some effects with their marked deck.
