A short and sweet endorsement:

Buy it, read it, use it!! Awesome!!

If you own and like Destination Zero, then you will enjoy this as much or more.

Agree with the Evil one: Proximity is killer. Take our word for it. It fries minds. I also like Mundo and Surprise in Mind. Mentalissimo: It really is a worthwhile purchase.

It´s a real shame that it isn´t availlable in Germany! Haven´t found one of the big dealers who would offer this! Same with the Roy Walton books, Vol. 3+4...so it looks like I have to take the bitter pill of high shipping costs overseas, sigh!

Clean out of sight and go-figuration are excellent. There's a nice little false cut to the table that is good also.

I need this book. I am surprised to not see too much hype on it. I know it is sold out or will sell out, but not a lot of reviews or talk. Books are dying and we need to change that. Buy anything Bannon and you will be fine. He doesn't put out bad products.

It's on back-order from some dealers but Browser's Den of Magic still has a couple of copies.

I just purchased Mentalissimo direct from John Bannon's website:

http://johnbannonmagic.com/books/mentalissimo.html

Axel,

Mr. Bannon ships internationally for $30. You might want to contact him at cardzilla@johnbannonmagic.com to ask if he can point you to a European dealer who stocks the book.

...sorry for the confusion, my fault: Vol.3 isn´t availlable in Germany and Vol. 4 isn´t on the market yet. Thank you Stevie Ray, that´s probably the way to go...perhaps I get lucky and Mr. Bannon will sign my book!

Hey Axel, if you buy the book directly from Mr. Bannon, don't forget to ask him to sign it and he will, it is not a matter of luck, just ask. But don't wait too long or it may go out of print. Last year he released Destination Zero and it sold out in about 6 months and Mentalissimo is getting more good comments than Destination Zero, so Mentalissimo could go in the same direction and sell out very soon.

You will be using Paypal for the transaction and they provide a place for a comment, that is where you ask Mr. Bannon for his autograph.

Has anyone else test driven Rock the 'Voque'? Consider: You think of a card and isolate it in plain view, then transmit the card's identity, bit by bit, to a spectator. No outs; works every time.

Obviously equivoque is involved, but John has really plotted this out to the point that, performed correctly, it's invisible. Bannon provides three potential methods for the reveal. Personally I like the third, suggested by Raj Mahdok.

I've been using this for several days now and it kills. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who has tried it out. (And if you haven't you should, you really should.) Also interested in which method for the reveal you are using.

Hi Anthony,

I just went though "Rock the 'Voque'." You're right. It's excellent. His take on Equivoque is fantastic. Two equivoques using language that allows the feeling that you are doing what was implied followed by a truly free choice. Also, minimum setup (six cards) and six chances for a real hit with no procedure.

I like how JB uses Max's "remove" and then switches it up for round 2 so it doesn't feel like a repeat of round 1.

Great thinking.

Agreed! Subtle yet important point that makes a huge difference in the mind of the spectator. I also appreciated his justification of Oeulett's Touch Force despite its seeming unnaturalness. Again, great thinking.

Glad you took a look at the effect - Perhaps that will inspire a few others to do so. It really is good.

Does anyone do Collusion? And, if so, i was thinking of starting with a written prediction. Does that make sense, to do it that way?

You could, but it really isn't set up as a prediction effect and you'd be changing the structure of the trick. It's more of a demonstration of synergy or synchronicity between two spectators.

I do a simple little effect based on a Rick Maue idea that you might be interested in. It'd certainly satisfy your desire for the written prediction, but still uses the idea of collusion between two spectators. If you are interested PM me and I will send you the bare bones. It's a simple effect and I can sufficiently describe it in 20 - 25 words.

Rock The "Voque" could also be used for a Kolossal Killer type routine. You only need 6 cards in your wallet and no "off by one." Or two wallets and only 3 cards each.

Yeah, youre right. Isn't really a prediction thing. I was concerned that if you revealed a prediction that a spectator might realize you had something planned in the first place

May as well use this thread to ask, as it is Bannon focused.

What do you guys reckon for my next book? Mentalissimo, Destination Zero or High Calibre?  For those that have them, which would you recommend?

Depends. Mentalissimo is a book of "Mentalism for the Card Aficionado." Destination Zero is self-working card tricks. High Calibre is an anthology; collection of various booklets, lecture notes, and magazine articles published after Dear Mister Fantasy and before Destination Zero. Personally I find Mentalissimo to be a strong volume of high quality card magic with a mental focus. It's got some killer stuff contained within its pages.

I am about a quarter of the way through the book and I am really enjoying it.  This is my first Bannon book and I love his writing style and thinking.  Collusion is my favorite so far.  I also like his variation of the Stuart Gordon Double Lift (JB Double Lift) to make it surefire.  I'm glad I purchased this book and can't wait to read the rest! (Signed copy of Destination Zero on deck)

Mentalissimo is in contention for the next TMF Book Club selection. I would urge anyone following this thread to sign up for the next book club and to vote here for Mentalissimo.

http://www.themagiciansforum.com/post/book-club-iii-starting-here-is-the-information-need-responses-by-july-31-at-5pm-8662935

No promises, but we certainly would invite Mr. Bannon to join us online for a session.

The first rule of Book Club is: Talk about Book Club.
