Hi Mike,

why would there be $6 shipping on a download?

Hi Duke,

Which item are you referring to? There shouldn't be any shipping on the downloads.

I think Will Roberts recently put some of my items on his site and may have confused the nature of Boston Massacre. Boston M is a manuscript that I mail out. Also, I think the shipping is $3.

Let me know what the item is and where it's being advertised. I certainly want to fix this problem.

Hi Duke,

I see the problem. Will set up the Mike Powers Magic section of http://www.learnamagictricks.com with shipping for the penguin lecture. I'll contact him and have him fix it. I'm providing a gift card to use at Penguin. I can either mail the scratch off card or, ideally, just scratch off myself and email the code. That way you can immediately have access to the download. I received a quantity of gift cards as part of the payment for doing the lecture and am allowed to sell them at a discount if I choose to do that. The normal price is $30. I sell it for $20. Will has it listed at $19.80, but unfortunately he added shipping. I'll have him fix it. When someone purchases from his site, I'll be notified to contact that person and pass on the promo code. This is explained on my site at http://www.mallofmagic.com/MFlecture.htm  where I tell the purchaser to click the HERE button and send me an email. I respond by telling them where to paypal and how they will receive the code. It's a bit clunky but it works. The other items on the site are set up in a more conventional way.

FWIW I put that video in my cart and the final total included $0.00 for free shipping.

I sent Will a note. Hopefully the shipping problem will get solved. I'll still have to be notified about who to send the code to. It's not an instant download.

OK - All is good. I was notified of the purchase and have your email. I will email you the scratch off code that you'll use at Penguin to get the download. You got the sale price of $19.80. The retail is $29.95 at Penguin.

I'll email you the code shortly.

Thanks! Hope you find a lot of great stuff in the lecture.

See the email just sent.

If the instructions aren't clear, I can talk you through the process tomorrow. Basically you have to go to Penguin's site at http://www.penguinmagic.com and order the lecture. On check out you'll type in the code I sent you and you'll immediately have access to the download.

HOLY CRAP...

I got that lecture from Mike this morning -- and that sucker is 4 Hours and 47 minutes!

dang what a bunch of stuff on there for $20... I've only watched the first set and explanations of the first 5 -- and I'm up to an hour and 11 minutes and my brain hurts... and for anyone wondering, I don't think there's anything he did so far that anyone here couldn't handle.

And -- there are 15 effects yet to go plus a discussion on restaurant work at the end.

Thanks a bunch Mike -- as if I didn't have anything else to watch -- a 4-day weekend and a new video... bonus [biggrin]

Glad you're digging the lecture Dave!

I can't remember how many items are in the lecture. But it doesn't exactly match the list that Penguin posted. They asked me to send a list of items far in advance of the lecture. Things changed over time and lectures often evolve organically during the lecture. If I have time I'll go through the lecture and itemize all the tricks and tag them with time codes.

Mike -- coming up with names and time stamps is what I do while I watch it the first time, the * denotes a trick I really like, and if that is there, then there's a red arrow. The red arrow button takes you to a lower section on the page that has my quick-notes on the performance.

Guess this is what happens when a Software Consultant goes into partial retirement 😉  and for software folks wondering... I have written macros in my text editor that create all that structure.

  TMFPic.jpg

ok and full disclosure -- the quick-notes I take over and appended to a word doc that gets formatted up and ends up as a .mobi file that I upload to my Kindle -- making it easy to be away from the PC and still see my quick-notes while working on something.

Thanks so much for doing this work Dave! Someone just asked if I had such a list and I volunteered to create it over the weekend. Looks like I owe you one! I'll post a short list of trick names and where they and the expl begin.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the index.

I haven't been able to format bigger text to a full page.
Can you link us to a plain text version?

This is about as close to plain text without losing the necessary formatting to understand it:

Wow! Thanks so much Dave.

Someone needs to hire you to do this for all the Penguin and Murphys lectures. Also the TMF lectures. Very valuable indeed.

Thanks, Dave. Quite useful.

I'm gradually converting mine to iso's. I still prefer a menu. Of course, I have to do what you did first. converting to the iso and adding a menu is trivial, though. I keep them on my home server and they play beutifully on Fire with Kodi or my computer with VLC. Portable devices, are problematic, though.

Later....
