Lots of stuff including, for example, several Harry Lorrayne books:

Announcing the National Emergency Library, a collection of books that supports emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries are closed.

Wow, not really sure if Harry agreed to that?

Looks like you can "borrow" the book for 14 days. I guess this means that after that the book become unavailable to you?? Can many people borrow the same book? In a real library, there's generally only one or maybe a couple of copies of any given book.

You probably can't, assuming they've purchased licenses for the books they are lending. I serve on a county library board, and we purchase licenses for X-number of ebooks, then lend those titles to patrons on their personal e-readers or computers. Like hardbound books, our libraries may lend only the number of copies licensed. For instance, if they've purchased only a single license of, say, The Magic Book, they can only lend one copy at a time. The best you could do is ensure they've purchased licenses.

This actually sounds a bit dodgier than that. If you look at this post about it, it sounds like they're lending unlimited digital copies of what they have for a limited time (during the national emergency) unless authors explicitly opt out by contacting them.

From their FAQ:

Quote:
If I am an author and I do not want my book to be temporarily available during this crisis, how can I remove my book from the National Emergency Library?

Authors who do not want their books in the National Emergency Library should send an email to info@archive.org with “National Emergency Library Removal Request” as the subject line. Please include each URL of the book or books you would like to have removed. Please allow up to 72 hours for processing as we are a small team.

You'd have to get the URLs of each individual book from the second link Chris Karim posted above.

I emailed to that address - got this message:  (How the heck to you stop 'em?!?!)

" A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

   info@archive.or

    Unrouteable address"

could someone get the links together and have Harry forward the email?

Harry -- looks like you left the "g" off the end of the email address... it ends in ".org"

It's a well-known, reputable site that has a goal of being the internet's public library. For example, they also host the Wayback Machine, which is like a time capsule that allows you to visit saved versions of websites as they used to exist. It can be pretty fun and helpful.

If someone has a few minutes to gather the links and get them to Harry as an email, like Dave suggested, that would be great.

I only said it looked dodgy because any browser I opened it in -- it just didn't render into something that looked professional -- maybe they were having a bad day or something... or getting hit by too many people...

Here's a thought. Totally mad, and probably not possible. But here goes anyway.

If they are licensing one copy of a book at a time, or even two, why don't a couple of the members here who already have the books (even Harry himself) borrow the books. That way nobody else can get them. Do this for the duration.

A bit sneaky, but the naughtiness didn't start here.

Not a solution, more like guerrilla tactics, but as I say, it's a (mad) thought.

Harry, you would need to copy and paste each of the URLs that pertain to the specific books to an email addressed to info@archive.org with National Emergency Library Removal Request as the subject.

The URLs are what show up in the search bar and look like this:

https://archive.org/details/mentalmagnetismc00lora

That was the URL for The Harry Lorayne Mental Magnetism Course

You'll need to click on each book as though you wish to borrow it to see the URL.

Hope this helps!

I am lost - I simply don't understand - my dyslexia takes over when it comes to computers - and it's worse than it's ever been. Is there some way you can do it for me?

Email sent.  Let's see what happens.  They advertised they would take action in around 72 hours.

The instructions they gave were followed and now I will wait for a response.  That should be within 72 hours.  At that time they will inform as to what action they are taking.

Hopefully they will confirm that the books will be removed from the collection.

I will post here the minute I hear something back.

By the way, how the books got onto the list is anybody's guess, but I did notice there is a function where books can be uploaded.  It is possible that some of the books were "donated" in that manner.
