How do you decide whether a card trick starts from a pocket envelope, or a full deck?

  1. Any Queen (Dream Queens)
  2. Queens to Aces
  3. Two Hearts (2 prepared cards look like 5)
  4. Black and Red (Oil and Water) 5 Red, 5 Black

If the cards appear to be, or are, normal, then I'd prefer to remove them from the deck in real-time.

If they are obviously specially printed (from the spectators perspective), then removing them from a pocket, envelope, or wallet would be fine.

Just personal opinion though.

I should probably add that if you are not planning on doing any card work with a full deck - then bringing the five or ten cards you need out of your pocket (or whatever) could work, in a "I only brought these cards from the deck" kind of way.

But if you are doing regular card work in the same performance, then removing a separate ace, two and three (for example), from your pocket separately, may look suspicious.
If the cards appear to be regular, it makes sense to remove them from the deck you have.
