Anyone into coins I'm sure is aware of Japanese magician and manager of the French Drop magic shop, Ponta the Smith, but I would look to post a reminder of how great he is. So smooth, so natural, and so original.

Here is a playlist of his coin work:

Agreed. It's sad that his work is so far out of my reach.

For another coin artist, I recommend the Kata DVD from Dafedas B.

Ponta was on the First EMC (Essential Magic Conference, 2010) and he performed and taught some effects that are not that difficult (yes, you still need to practice). You may want to look for the discs...

Dafedas B is great too. But there's something that bothers me about his performances that I can't quite name. I love watching his stuff, but it just doesn't excite me like Ponta's performances do. There's something that seems off, and I feel bad saying it since I can't place what it is. It's not a criticism, as his work still looks amazing.

Has anyone else seen this teaser trailer for Tomoya Horiki's Sprout DVD? He says it will soon be available in the U.S.

If you have Ponta's  Sick DVD..  I forgot what effect it was during the explanation, but the over the shoulder shot was just totally amazing.  There was so much going on all I could do was sit there and laugh.

As for the Sprout DVD, I've purchased a couple of those specialized coin DVD's.  I have a hard time thinking the practice time needed to usable effect is very practical.  Some of it can be quite angle sensitive too.  Can't help but wonder how many takes were needed to get through the  routine.  Nice stuff if you like a challenge, not sure how usable in the real world.  Just my 2 cents.
