What is your favorite prop-less mentalism effect?
I really love to do verbal forces, and when they hit, get's a great reaction. Just ask Kreskin.
Also, I like Doug Dyment's Sign Language to tell someone's Zodiac Sign they were born under. Before that I used the progessive anagram in Mind, Myth & Magick to tell people what sign they were born under.
PK Touches is another effect I like. David Blaine has a killer Touches effect. I have no clue as to how it's done.
I would think that palm reading would be classified as propless mentalism. All you need is someone's hands, no tricks here, just tell them what the lines and shape of there hands mean. I like to think I am a student of Ron Martin as I use his book The Palm Reader's Notebook as my guide.
Do you have a favorite propless effect? I would love to read about it!
Many thanks,
MP-
PS: The green place also has thread on Propless Mentalism, just a coincidence however, go check it out, But post over here!!

Although not totally propless but fairly close. I really enjoy doing free will effects . My favorite is having a quarter and a nickel and penny selected by the spectator, once completed they read my prediction that’s been sitting there for you the whole time. I also like gimmicked watches.

I Use "Invisible Touches" all the time, though Never the way Banachek described, never liked the presentation or the "work" there are of course various ways to do it, Derren Brown has an interesting presentation, there are also other hidden things to use

yes, Blaine has some nice work on the routine [wink]

Wold, you consider Paper Props? to me, a "prop" is an unnatural item brought in for a specific effect, also would you only say "mental/mind" effects, or would that include PSI effects?

Codebreaker does require a borrowed phone. I do two phones at a time. Trust me, the reactions are priceless and the performer requires nothing more than permission to hold the volunteer's locked phone.

I've posted before regarding, "The Grey Elephant in Denmark". Anthony Vinson will back me up on the impact this can have when presented properly.

Free Will effects have also intrigued me. Baldini's use of coins is a great idea.

Yes, he will. Most people haven't seen it, don't know it, and will be amazed when witness to its proper presentation.

Hi,
This is not quite prop-free, but I always have a playing card under my phone case. You can use equivoque (magician's choice) and show the spectator that you already knew what they would pick from a dream you had or something. It gets awesome reactions, trust me.

It is not completely propless, but you always have your phone on you so might as well have it ready. Or maybe have it in your wallet or something if you don't have a phone.

Words, with words alone we can alter perceptions and create wonder, we can use our words to engage people and entrance with a simple story, or two... we can introduce the secrets of mind power and alter viewpoints in an instant, there are many things we can do with words.

When you consider your role as a magician, and how you wish to be perceived , a whole new world can be opened to you. Take a look around, read as much as you can, learn more about the world in which we are immersed and you can create intrigue wherever you go.
