Hi Fellas,

I received an ad from Reel Magic today regarding Armando Lucero and his Paper Cuts project. I didn't quite understand what the offer was so I called and was able to speak on the phone with Kozmo (nice guy) and he cleared things up for me.

After hearing about all that you get for just $5 a month, I subscribed.

Rudy

Ok Everyone,
We've just started loading issue 52 of Reel Magic on to the On Demand Site. Over the next 3 weeks we will add the entire magazine. This weeks addition is "Try This at Home", Garrett Thomas, Vincent Mendoza - "Liquid Band II" and Tyler Erickson's "Stronger Magic".
So we will take a short break from Rudy Tinoco's "Apocalypse Now". This will allow Rudy some time to shoot some more material. It will return in a couple of weeks.
Reel Magic, Best Deal in Magic Today! $5 a month no long term commitment.

Kozmo...

I've been a monthly subscriber coming up on 4 years -- love the site.

Wanted to give you positive feedback on the Issue 52 'progressive' roll-out over a few weeks... like with the Cellini V3 stuff. I like it, keeps people going to the site more regularly to look at the latest bits, and you're not overwhelming us with the whole thing at once.

Good stuff!!

Well that's why we're doing it. I think we felt that the site was just overwhelming. So much content. So we are doing smaller bites. STILL adding tons of content but weekly versus monthly. SO you can go to the site weekly and see a couple new things. Learn a new trick NOT 5 new tricks.

Thanks for the words.

We've just loaded more content for issue 52 of Reel Magic ON Demand - including a column by Christian Painter, and a wicked no palm card to pocket by John Luka. You can see it at http://www.reelmagicmagazine.com now. We will be adding more of  issue 52 next week.

We're taking a short break from Rudy Tinoco's "Apocalypse Now" but it will return in 2 weeks.

Bumping the thread to point out that TNT, Tuesday Night Tricks is back!

The first one is not to be passed over.  The ball and vase is one of the first things many people encounter when getting interested in magic.  You can probably find an Adams (or whoever makes them these days) ball and vase in every joke shop or magic shop.  They are also in many beginner magic kits.

The routine shown by R. Paul Wilson just might cause you to rifle through your magic junk drawer.

Even if you don't use the routine, there are many thoughts and ideas shared that you can likely incorporate into other routines.

If you are a subscriber, check it out.  If not, do yourself a favor and plunk down $5.00 for the best value in magic.

Hey Everyone,

We just updated the site with the premiere of Season 8 of TNT: Tuesday Night Tricks! This week: A new spin on Ball and Vase by R. Paul Wilson. Paul takes this from a trick to a miracle.

In case you donโ€™t know what TNT (Tuesday Night Tricks) is? We put a new piece up on the site every Tuesday Night for 8 weeks. Itโ€™s seasonal. It lasts for 8 weeks and we move on to something else.

AND every piece is really good. Big Names. This season R Paul Wilson, David Penn, Chris Korn and more!

AND we also added:

The next installment from Chapter 2 of J.B. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic Interpreted by Curtis Kam! This week: The Utility Switch & the One-Hand Switch.

Reel Magic, $5 a month. Best Deal in Magic!

OK, so I keep thinking about that routine with the ball and vase.  I need to get a life!  But seriously, after thinking about it, this could be the perfect trick to help lead a son or daughter or grandchild into magic.  Of course you only teach them the usual way to do the trick.  But the fact that you leave them with the prop is hopefully the seed that may later sprout and take root.

I have 4 children and none have any current interest in magic.  One daughter did for a while and she was decent as a performer.

So if you are in a position where you have a relative this is either showing interest or you think might show interest, that trick might be the icebreaker.

To do the routine you will need two, so buy at least two!  If you intend to give them away, buy more.

Another thing that deserves mention is Tyler Erickson's Stronger Magic features.  I am a firm believer that incorporating the "little things" that Tyler teaches into your magic will help you step up your game.  Learning how to focus attention, manage your props efficiently, move with intention are all important and there is something to learn from all of his segments.  Watch his instruction and then think about how you can incorporate the ideas into your presentations.

Good luck! Not hard to do, just try not to make too much noise when you load the extra ball and fake. That was the only finicky part I noticed.

It's impossible not to keep finding some real hidden gems on Reel Magic.
Has anyone else taken a look at Episode 38? .... If not, check out Christian Painter's Mind Tripping from that episode. Just a brilliantly devilish effect that's so easy to do, it's ridiculous.... And totally fooling.

I must say over the years I have done a poor job of keeping up with the issues of Reel Magic. I have recently started from the beginning and going through them. Let there be no doubt, there is GOLD in these issues!

I'm hooked on catching up and try to daily watch something until someday I'm caught up.

If you are not a subscriber . . . it is probably the best $5 monthly you can spend!

Regarding value, the new feature by John Guastaferro is worth the monthly fee and then some.  One of the tricks explained this week, 'All in Your Hands' has sold for $10.00 on its own.  And the first one, Virus, is a great 'All Backs' morphs to 'Blank Deck' and then on to a humorous reveal and a restoration of the faces.  And the difficulty level is low.  If you can do a reverse fan (tip:  use a fresh deck or get some fanning powder) you are set!

Also, don't pass by John's comment about 1 degree.  I've heard it said different ways, but the point he makes regarding magic is spot on.  Apply the concept to everything you do and see the results.

Years ago a company I work for was trying to stimulate out-of-the-box thinking and/or creativity.  They gave us all compasses.  If you can't read the fine print it says 'Where would a 2 degree change take you?

100% agree with you about John G, Ray! ... he is meticulous in how he approaches effects.

I love Virus -- saw him lecture that in another forum. I made up some artwork and had my gaff-making buddy make me some 'virus' cards ... love it.

I like the concept of the compass; good stuff. As to the question, it all depends on how far you plan on traveling, doesn't it?!

Heh! 2 degrees would equal two miles off course over ten miles traveled [biggrin] (I taught myself orienteering when I was a teenager)
