Hello there, discerning magic lovers.

My new book, Influence-Enza is done and being released as we speak!
It has already gotten amazing reviews from great magicians and mentalists who ought to know better:

Marc DeSouza writes (from the Foreword) …

“Michael Breggar has made it his mission to create really entertaining presentations for some great mental effects. To create simple, entertaining mental miracles that are sleight-free so you can concentrate on pleasing your audiences… ok, get your mind out of the gutter, I mean letting them be a part of a fun, yet very strong magical experience…. Not only are the premises interesting and humorous, but they use a variety of objects, like dice, fortune cookies and Legos, that are certain to keep even the most jaded audiences fully engaged.

By taking the ‘no sleight’ route, most effects become process heavy. Michael has created premises and presentations that take what is normally an ordeal and makes the ride as good as the climax. Dare to break out of the world of dreary mentalism. Have your participants take a psychic romp in a hospital nursery, create some sick and twisted fortune cookies, pretend its Oscar Night and have your audiences pick some winners, play poker with a Martian and even witness a fistfight between Martin Gardner and Dai Vernon!”

“I am delighted by this book. Not only the methods, but many brand-new themes. Mentalists look for this, as they can tire themselves and the audience with seemingly repeated effects. Michael has dug deep and I look forward to using some of these on stage. BTW, for those who care, there are many new methods. Michael knows what he is writing about. Confident, sincere, original. I love it.”  - Marc Salem

“If you read the Linking Ring, you will certainly recognize the name, Michael Breggar from his “Auto-Magic” columns. Michael is an extremely knowledgeable performer in many different areas of magic! When he sent me a copy of Influence-Enza, he called it ‘Comedy Mentalism’. How misleading! Yes, the lines he uses in his patter ARE funny and some of the premises are a little off-the-wall (a fist fight between Martin Gardner and Dai Vernon!), but the Mentalism is dead serious! Frankly, this is some of the cleverest material I have seen in quite some time. The humorous premises, in fact, often “set-up” the audience for an even more effective knock-out blow at the climax! Even if you work more straight-forward, this material contains ideas you can use and the book is filled with one-liners that can be quite effective in any show.

The routines run the gamut from using cards and dice to fortune cookies, Legos and much more! They are all based on classic ideas, but, and here is the great part, they do not require any fancy sleights or moves! Like his LR column, he achieves strong results through subtleties and ingenious routining. (The thinking reminds me a lot of the wonderful, “Scarne on Card Tricks.”) And those results are worth doing! Michael always has a strong eye on powerful material. The audience is laughing like crazy one minute and speechless the next!

The bottom line is this; don’t be put off if you think this is a book of silly Mentalism “jokes.” Nothing could be further from the truth. This is strong material meant to play for real people out to have a good time and still have their socks knocked off!” - Richard Osterlind

"Knowing of Michael’s flair of emphasizing presentation, Influence-Enza will be a welcome addition to anyone's library.”  - Don Wiberg

“Quite an impressive achievement! The effects are diverse, imaginative, ingenious and meticulously sourced. I also like that fact that you included some multi-phase routines. I don't think we get to see enough of those these days. All in all, you've outdone yourself, sir. Congratulations!” – Michel Potts

“Michael strips away the inconsequential, eliminates heavy technical sleights, and focuses strictly on the effect and its impact on the spectator. What a concept. As an unashamed fan of Mike's work, I was initially irritated to discover that he'd already churned out a follow-up to his last, Dancing with the Cards. How can one man generate so much quality material in such a short period of time?! Creative genius? Or perhaps he took a walk down the crossroads one misty midnight… His creations are strong, the instructions clear, and the writing is, well, funny and fun to read and perform…” - Anthony Vinson

Yes... even that Vinson guy gets his name in the bright lights!!

Check the earlier thread for the contents... but trust me (???!) you'll love it. Did you really expect me to say anything else?

The book will retail for $20 as an instant download eBook. But for you ... I've got such a deal ...
Buy it directly from me and I'll give you a 25% discount. That's right ... a mere $15!! You may not be able to start a cult with this material, but, you will likely have someone buy you a pizza!

Just PayPal me at mbreggar@gmail.com with $15 and your email address and the book will wing it's way through the ether and into your gray matter.

I will run this special through July 30th only. So act fast. I have no patience.

Oh... and here's a little video about the book:

Hello there.

Thank you all for the great response in buying a copy of Influence-Enza. I really appreciate the love and support and very kind words and comments. Mostly, I appreciate the fact that you are acquiring this book through legit outlets rather than through the scum, anti-social, amoeba-like intelligence pirate websites.

(Hey, you disgusting pirates, if you are reading this, I have two questions: 1) Why did it take a whole 48 hours before this book appeared on your websites? What took so long? Were you out bilking the elderly? Eating children and their pets? And, 2) when did you learn to read?)

I am always happy to answer any and all questions related to the stuff I write, whether in the books or in the Linking Ring column. You can find me at mbreggarmagic@gmail.com

The ever-discerning, sophisticated and extremely brilliant Robin asked about my other books. The first two (The Five Roads to Vegas  and Back to the Launching Pad) are sold in the online shops for $7.00 each (such a deal!). But if you order today... I will gladly bundle these two for a mere $10!!  That's right!! You heard me correctly: two Pulitzer Prize losing magic books for only $10.

But wait ... there's more!

The best-selling magic book of 2018 in Breggar household, Dancing With the Cards sells normally for $14. For the wonderful and well-bathed members of this Forum, you can buy Dancing for $10.

But wait ... there's still even more! Buy all three together for $18!!!

Hey listen... I do not run a magic store. But, I love this Forum and I love all of you. Writing these things is a lot of hard work and I am constantly bombarded by people who want me to raise the price considerably. But, I won't. This hard work is still a labor of love. I am happy to share my well-received performance pieces with you and I hope you share them with your audiences. And have some fun along the way. And if you like what you read, kindly drop a few 5-star reviews on the Penguin or BBM or Kaymar Magic websites.

Click here to see the contents of the books (on the Penguin site):

Back to the Launching Padhttp://www.penguinmagic.com/p/11031
Dancing With the Cardshttp://www.penguinmagic.com/p/11024

Again, if you'd like to buy these directly from me, I will bundle Five Roads and Launching Pad for $10
Or, send you Dancing for $10
Or, for you trouble-makers, send you all three for $18

Order these via PayPal at mbreggar@gmail.com
Please be specific as to what you are ordering, because I am not a real mind-reader.

Thanks again, everyone.
In my mind, YOU are the World's Greatest Magicians

In my opinion, your trick "Mind Reading is Easy..." is worth the price of the book.

I'm going to film a demonstration of it soon so that the fellas can see how good it is (and deeply fooling).

Thanks, Rudy, for helping to get the word out.
Hopefully TMF-ers will forgive you!

Thanks, everyone for buying the book(s). I have to tell you I am so humbled by the great reviews and comments I have already received from some amazing “brand name” magicians, but I am more humbled by the nice comments received by you all... my friends and peers. Thanks so much.

And I can’t wait to see Rudy perform “Influence-Enza”!!

You’re all the best!

Folks, take advantage of this deal!!! I've performed Para-Dice, from Influence-enza, probably ten or so times, and while I am still ironing out my own personal presentational hook, the trick is killer. I mean, I read the description and thought, "Hey, finally a sue for all those dice in my magic junk drawer." But after the first couple of performances I discovered just how strong it really is. I told Mike that once I work out my hook, I will try to film and post a performance in The Refinery. (Not a thing wrong with Mike's presentation, mind you. But I have paired Para-Dice with a John Carey effect, hence my need to adjust the presentation.)

The Third Attribute and That Flippin' Contest from Dancing With the Cards has become a favorite of mine. Such fun to perform!

Three Questions and a Lady from Five Roads to Vegas is the best presentation for the venerable one-ahead minding reading routine that usually begins and ends with a cross-cut force. Yeah, you know the one. Well, Mike's presentation not only eliminates the need for the force, it gives meaning and structure to the presentation. It makes sense! I don't perform all that often, but when I have the chance, this is one that I love to do.

I could go on.

Honestly, for the price you cannot go wrong. And no, I'm not getting commission (or am I, Mike?!) - but I am, and have been for some time, excited about Mike's creative output and approach to magic.

Here is my performance of "Influence-Enza" by @Mbreggar

My handling differs slightly, but the effect is still the same.

Robin, thanks for that. The Penguin listing (for Influence-Enza) went official only yesterday morning, so I don't know where your review got dropped to! Could you perhaps cut and paste and try it again?

Thanks, Robin. really appreciate it.

And thanks, everyone, for reaching out and buying the book. I truly hope you are already having some fun with these effects!

Mike

I'm so glad that you like it @Mbreggar !!

This is a wonderful effect. I tried to keep it short and to the point for the sake of time. There is so much room for folks to create a powerful presentation for this.

I love it and will continue to perform this in my shows. Thanks!!

Rudy

I waited until they had the book listed for sale, then used the big green "Write a Review" button at the bottom of the page.  I guess I misremembered yesterday as "a couple of days ago" - that happens to me a lot - I would be the world's worst witness at a trial.  Anyway, when I finished a screen popped up saying "Thank you for the review."  It did say there might be a delay before it showed up - I guess they monitor reviews to filter out naughty words and rude comments.

I guess it does take a bit of time. They never publish my reviews because they are incoherent and almost 100% naughty words. Like me.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your support in this. I know it takes take to write the reviews. The least you could hope for is that they are posted expediently.
I sent a message to Shaun Dunn yesterday. Shaun is part of their product placement team.

On the other front, good news: Murphy’s will be picking up my catalog of work!

Between Mike Powers new and awesome “Tesseract”, Harry being released from the hospital and my book, I’d say it’s been a good week for magic book writers on this forum!

I'm about half way through the book and enjoying it.  Good value. I'd come across the dice idea before from the same source as Michael and remember trying to figure out why it was working, I knew the basic principle but it is so well disguised. Mind you, Don Tanner only used a paragraph to write it up, Michael gives a scripted presentation. Similarly, the first ESP card effect in the trio I'd used before, Howard Adams' "Cidentaquin" which was marketed at one time. I have a shortened version of that in a book I'm currently writing, to use up the remainder of the cards not gaffed for something else, lol. I like Michael's three effect routine.

Very nice dem. Rudy, you caught me with the force rather than the switch. It's a powerhouse effect. Not used the Gilbreath principle for years. Maybe that needs a thread of it's own with recommended effects.

Anybody who buys the book will be using something from it that's for sure and Michael has an enviable fun writing style, very easy to read.

I've only read through the first routine, and so far, I like the thought you've put into this.  I will keep reading through, and yes, it is fun to read your writing style, as Paul mentioned.

Paul and Tom, thank so much for your kind words.

Paul ... didn't you LOVE those old Tanner/Grant pamphlets with 50 tricks. Each one only gets a paragraph of explanation. Those pamphlets were great if you had an idea and needed a method to make it work! In my case, I must have performed the Tanner dice trick a hundred times before I realized folks just weren't impressed with it...why, there was no structure or motivation for making it work. That's when the idea used here popped into my head. Sort of performed it half-assed though...because the idea I had wasn't really fully formed at that time. I got bored and stopped performing it. Until a 7 or 8 years ago I decided to go back and flesh out the story-line a bit. End result is "Another Day in Para-Dice." There is still lots of room to make it your own (as our own Anthony Vinson has done). From time to time, I start out with ten different colored dice, use the PATEO force to narrow it down to a forced die among three remaining. I then produce a prediction with the words "You are thinking about a total of _____. You are also thinking about the GREEN die which has the number __ showing." The blanks are filled in using a thumb writer. This version just blows people away.

One final comment on the book today. It has been brought to my attention that a typo prevents the "Award Season" trick from working sometimes. I will be fixing that typo (plus a couple others I found --- that's what happens when you let a cat do your proofreading!) and sending a revised copy out to everyone who bought the book. Sorry for any issues or confusion. And again, I thank you so much for your purchase and your kind words. From all of you, they mean so much to me!
