Hi Everyone,

Here is the link to our upcoming Saturday Session:

https://goo.gl/QWA88Z

Please let us know what you plan to share. I'll pull people into the video feed depending on whether or not they will have something to contribute. This will give more folks the opportunity to take part in these very special online sessions.

I've been able to fix the sound my computer and look forward to a glitch free session.

See you then!

Rudy

Looking forward to the session.

I'll be ready to show the item Trini asked about last time. I've tweaked it a little too.

I've also been playing with an item from Top Secret Stuff called "The Invisible Aces." I can show that as well if time permits.

While I can't share this, if this session permits, I'd like to talk about an in the hands (no table) blind riffle.  Maybe compare and contrast the moves (names), and I wonder if it is really needed at all...

Thanks.

Hrm...I'm not really sure what I should share.  I have a nifty ace cutting routine that I think people might be interested in.  If not I have a few rubber band things that people might find fun.

Rudy's video of the Lazy mans card trick got me thinking about Think a Card Effects so might go through Vernon's think of a card from Further Inner Secrets.

I can perform Marlo's Perfect Stop Trick, which reminds me of Lazy Man's Card Trick.

I'm sure I'm probably misunderstanding what you mean, but what's the purpose of doing the Prophecy Move without cutting the deck?  Isn't the point of the move to facilitate cutting the deck openly without it actually registering to the spectator?

Bulla, you want to turn the card FU but hopefully the spectator doesn't really notice you are secretly cutting the deck . It's a great move and usually goes  unnoticed but in this version you are turning the out-jogged card FU but putting the top half back on top of the deck instead of under the deck so there is no cutting of the deck as in the original. Hope that makes sense.

I'm interested in the no cut Prophesy move. I have a method too that's based on a Gary Plants idea. Looking forward to seeing this one. I'll PM you.

I have two revelations I'd like to share. Unfortunately, I have a brunch gig and may not be free until 1:15 PST. Hope to see you all then.

Great session as always.

Steve, the name of the move I told you about on the chat during the session is Card Ping Chien, a version of the coin move. It was created by Shigeo Takagi using cards and it can be found in New Magic of Japan by Richard Kaufman (1988). I hope this information helps.

Thank you! I just ordered it. I ran through the contents on Denis Behr's archive and it looks like a terrific book.

Card Ping Chien is described as a switch. Just the title alone gets me thinking about the method and applications. Can't wait to read about it.

I think the image froze during the session. I'll post a video in the session room after this busy weekend. The move is aimed at creating an appearance and feels similar in practice to an altogether different move originally taught as a non-card utility vanish.

@Mike Powers

Mike,  I did some research and the only reference that I could find to the Ghost Switch in my library was in "Any Second Now" by Martin Nash.
http://archive.denisbehr.de/show.php?book=92&highlight=4353

It's not the same thing you were doing...unless of course there is another switch called the Ghost Switch  [smile]

Thanks Craig. I checked the Nash book. What he calls the "Ghost Switch" is a double lift replacement. I'm probably mis-remembering the name of the switch Ricky used. I'll watch the video of his performance and see if the switch is obvious. Maybe it was a Jinx switch??

I'll check and report.

Hello forum members! I just wanted to second the comments of Robin Dawes -- the sessions that Rudy sets up are really worthwhile events -- one of the many "best" activities of this forum! I really appreciate the commoraderie that is always exhibited by everyone -- master pros are willing to share and explain real gems at these sessions, and there are always few new twists that surface. Everyone learns something, and everyone comes out a little better than when they logged in! Thanks to all of you -- it is very much appreciated. Hopefully more members will take advantage of these sessions in the future! johnny

Thanks for the encouraging words fellas!

I'm glad that you find the Saturday Sessions valuable. I'm constantly amazed at the creativity and generosity of those who join us.

This session was recorded. I apologize for the delay in sending out the link to you. I've been a busy boy but I'll send it out tonight.

I look forward to seeing you at our next session! Till then… Merry Christmas!

Rudy

Here's a quick table of contents for the recording, listing times and subjects.  I guessed at some effect names (and made up a couple!) - if there's a correction please let me know.

Thanks for creating a table of contents Robin. That is a very valuable list indeed. Without it we're traveling blind.

Rudy, sorry I wasn't able to get on. I'm sure it was on my end. I probably know less about computers than Harry. I usually watch the sessions on my computer but bought a tablet a month ago and it has a camera and mic. I finally was able to get the sessions on my tablet about an hour in but Rudy couldn't pull me into sessions. Hopefully I can figure it out for the next session.

Hi Tony, do you have any time this week to do a quick test call with me? I want to make sure that you're able to attend our next session. Sorry that we weren't able to see your thoughts on the prophecy move. It sounds very interesting. I hope that you have a great day!

Robin, thank you so much for the index!

Mike, I am digging the Thought of Card Across. It reminds me of Simon Aronson's Red See Passover but with ordinary cards. I think your 'out' for the sixth card is just fine. As you said, it is unlikely that the card will be chosen. So the question, "You weren't thinking of the X of Y, were you?" needs a good line given the spectator's answer is routinely "No."

"No?... Good... Because then the trick would be over."

I use this line in a similar circumstance. It usually gets a laugh, it allays suspicion that I was guessing and it foreshadows the extra bit of magic I have in store.

I have an idea I'll need to refine for the rare occasion the sixth card is chosen. If I can make it work, I'll send you a video.
