I understand this is very late notice and that Steve Y has a lecture on Sunday (Pacific) but any chance of a Saturday session this weekend Rudy?

I wasn't sure that anyone would be interested since we have Steven's lecture tomorrow. I most definitely miss our Saturday Sessions and would love to see you guys.

If anyone else is interested, I'd be willing to host it for us.

What time would work best for you fellas?

I have a funeral to attend and a birthday party that requires me to at least make an appearance.
That wouldn't make me available until 3pm (Pacific).

If that's too late, I wonder if Ben or someone else may be willing to host.

This brings up an important subject.

I was talking to one of our members (Barrett) about wanting to make our sessions reproducible so that they can be hosted by some of our Inner Circle members who live in different time zones. I don't want to be the lid on our ability to connect with each other to share magic.

Any thoughts?

Rudy

OK, I will post a link so that we can have a session at 3 PM. It won't be until about 2:30, so keep your eyes out for that post.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks so much for setting that session up Rudy.

I have many things with a pack of cards to thank Harry Lorayne for but my greatest debt to him is that he introduced me to this place.

To be able to watch and listen on Mike, Steve and Craig work through that collectors material is priceless.

I feel like a young kid lurking around Tannen's or a fly on the wall in the back room at Schulien's..... it is incredible.

Rudy, what's really weird is the very question you asked Mike about casting out 13s with clocking was the exact question I was going to ask him having been going through the EL the last week on the back of Pit Hartlings Triathalon and then seeing T-A-L and then seeing Mike's comment/post somewhere else. I think I got it. Thanks Mike

Thanks again Rudy and  the guys

Gareth

Hi Gareth,

I'll try to post a pdf of Code 5 from Power Plays. It goes into detail on what we discussed. It's not really that hard to get a hold of.

I've been doing that clocking thing since the session finished.  I'll probably never use it but it's pretty fun to do!

Hi Fellas,

I agree that it was fun watching three, very talented (and generous) magicians work through that card problem. Wow!

We'll be resuming our Saturday Sessions after Steven Youell's lecture.

Here is the recording of today's session... https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=uWXU3TBotFY

Thanks to all who attended!!

Rudy

I don't have any magic buddies in my area. I have to go to Chicago or Michigan for camaraderie. These sessions are such great fun! We got stuck on the item I showed and never passed the ball around enough. I really enjoy the variety of ideas that emerge when everyone engages in "show and tell."

It's very easy to get stuck on one idea and getting challenged a bit to try different things is greatly productive. Craig's idea of just setting the cards aside has a lot of merit as does Steven's push through shuffle thing. I really do like the separation thing though. The image of four kings widely separated then coming together and collecting has a lot of appeal to me. But, nonetheless, I am playing with these other ideas too.

Interesting that Steven was playing with the sequence of cutting to four of a kind and then using them in a collectors. It's very natural routining. I always try to find a way to use the four of a kind or lead into the cutting with the notion that I need the kings. Why not find them magically or in some skillful way. I think this is a fairly common thing to do.

I do like the idea that the cutting is to find selections. Then, by some "chance" the four kings have been cut. Then they find the selections.

All this will only make sense to those who were in the session.

Right now I'm playing with an alternate way to go with the cutting sequence using the Ackerman spec cuts. There's a nice feature that works well with selections that ultimately get sandwiched. Also, it feels "pure" in that it appears that the specs really cut the aces. They turn over the cards instead of you picking each one up and holding them face down etc.

I'll post some Code 5 stuff in a bit.

Mike
