I love this trick. It is a wonderful opener. It can quieten an inattentive crowd very quickly. I think my favourite version is the one done by Wayne Dobson.

You can learn a very, VERY, interesting 6-card repeat idea - with a very, VERY, interesting end kicker - in JAW DROPPERS!

I used to bate this trick. I thought it was corny and when Harry Stsnley tried to persuade me to do it I resisted mightily and fought hard against it. However he prevailed and it was one of my better decisión. At the time I was working late st night to drunken audiences and dying a death every nigjt. When I first csme on nobody wss paying attention to me snd there was s very noisy bsckground sound

This trick cured all that! Within seconds the noise stopped and you could hear s pin drop.

I don't think it was because of trick itself which is vety ordinary. It was because of the repetitious counting which had a hypnotic effect. I had two minutes of silence where I could establish myself.

I sm glad I listened to Harry.

Hi...I don't think this is necro yet. I sure like this trick.

Ed Marlo has a great version.

Amazon has this DVD.

Also strongly recommend a Google search using argument "the greater magic dvd six card repeat"

Some great stuff out there and someone did a lot of work.

The YouTube is interesting. Would anyone know if this version is taught where I may purchase it?

Dr. Magic, is the video on the DVD you mention?

Also, hoping nothing was violated by showing the video or mentioning the Google search. I worry a lot :-)

Thanks.

Perverse Six Card Repeat

Background

I posted this to the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum on July 1, 2012.

This is my Perverse Magic presentation of the Six Card Repeat that came to me initially from seeing Senator Crandall do his version at a Magician’s Guild Lecture years ago. His version appears in Tarbell 6.

Roy Benson who was my favorite magician so many years ago, had a similar version which appeared in his lecture notes and now appears in Benson By Starlight” on page  229  where the Benson and Crandall versions are compared.

The ideas of “looking in the book” (see below) came to me from Roy Benson as he did that during his billiard ball routine when a red ball suddenly appeared during his routine with white balls.

Effect

I explain that for my next effect I’m going to pass these six cards through this plate. I count six cards onto the plate.

I explain that I don’t know why you need six cards but the instructions are clear but then, while I’m talking, I accidentally drop 2 cards.  I continue and again count 6 cards. Again I accidentally drop another card and count and this time there are 5. I look around and say, “Oh, I dropped one.” And I pick one up.

Again I count but this time there a – 7. I look confused. “I guess I didn’t.” And throw one card away but when I count again there are again 7

This is repeated several times until finally the magician quits and tosses the cards away saying he can’t ever get six – and then looks frustrated because he just did get six!

Greater Magic Video Library - Six Card Repeat - I had this DVD, but I lost it - MAYBE it was stolen from my car.
Nick Lewin - Ultimate Six Card Deja Vu - [smile]has received a few days ago. It is very much interesting option too.

Pop Haydn has a nice version - somewhat in the same vein as Gerald Deutsch's.

About two weeks ago Larry Brodahl brought out his version of the 6-card-repeat, called Solution 6.
Salient features are a crystal clear handling of the cards and a surprising climax.
See: http://www.lybrary.com/scripted-7-solution-6-p-874760.html

I like it Harry!

I also looked up the original from CCM-V5 (using the Elmsley and Tilt) and actually liked it better.

Considering some patter like this...

"Choose a card and return it to the deck for me... We'll bury it near the center for safe-keeping..."

"While playing poker with an old college buddy recently, he reminded me of the cards we always used in the dorm and the fact they were not a complete deck. For that reason, we invented a game called "Four-Card Draw-Down Poker."

"You get four cards to start but must discard one and draw another to complete the four card hand and then have a betting round... kinda like stud poker..." [discard one and count as four]

"Following the bets, you must again discard one of the four cards and get a new card and a have a new betting round..."  [Repeat the discard and count as four]

[Repeat the discard and count as four]

"You keep repeating this until there is no deck to draw from so you discard only and continue to bet on the remaining cards in your hand... until you have but one card in your hand, a lot of discards (and a butt-load of money on the table! The man with the final high card wins the pot." [Push double off and hold one card only....]

"By the way, my final card looks just like your chosen card."

"I never really cared for the game for two reasons.... too much betting and nothing is prettier in poker than a five card hand - especially a Royal Flush in Spades..."

Your loyal subject....

Yes; it's the climax that makes Easier 6-Card Royal soooo strong. Check it out.

It's a great trick, but butchered as much as any trick I can think of. So often, there is no attempt to show only 6 cards with any conviction. More often than not, it looks like half a deck of cards with the performer counting 6 at a time.

I like Easier 6 Card Royal.
It's like a trick within a trick within a trick. Talk about more bang for the buck.
And each piece has a distinct beat that doesn't seem like it will muddle the whole routine into a mess.

I can see me doing this. I like it a lot.
