I saw reference to Steve in another thread then couldn't find it again to respond. Creative genius, and whilst he did shut himself off from magicians and magic for a while after becoming possibly the most ripped off guy in magic I'm not sure he's still quite  the hermit.

I'd been aware of Steve and his magic from the seventies, but only had the pleasure of seeing him perform for the first time at a Metro Magic convention in New Jersey about 4 years ago. Very entertaining, loved his sense of humor. I think they were honoring him and got him to do a spot in the close up show.

it was said we'd be unlikely to see any new material from Steve in the thread, but I know he gave Ryan Matney a fun contribution for a new book coming out soon, which has some great contributors. Keep your eyes peeled for it [smile]

P.s. An additional bit of info here, just saw the book I mentioned advertised as a pre-publication here if anyone is interested:

I was at a Steve Dushek lecture many many years ago and he presented a very cool effect, if I'm remembering this correctly. A card is selected, lost in deck, then the deck is thrown at the magician's tie. The selected card is then found stuck on the tie. I think he also did a vanishing aquarium trick, not sure if that was him.

Steve Dusheck created a great effect called....well I'll tell you that later.

Blaine, owner of The Premier 75 Magic Studio took a handful of pennies out of his right hand pocket. He took one and placed it on the closeup mat on the counter. He then put the rest of the pennies into his left hand and closed it into a fist. He took the penny on the mat and placed it on top of his fist. Then he took this small, sort of short, red block and placed it on top of the penny. Magic words and when he lifted the red block the penny had changed into a dime.

(yawn)

Then he opened his left hand and as the coins fell and landed on the closeup pad we saw that ALL the pennies in his fist changed to dimes as well. Talk about a stunner! The name of the effect was called "By the Handful."
