Hi Everyone,

I'm very pleased to announce that we'll be having another online lecture this Sunday, May 15th at 1pm by Steve Friedberg!!

Steve has been invited to perform at Hollywood’s world-famous Magic Castle, is a member of London’s Magic Circle, is a regular attendee at the invitation-only 4F convention, and has lectured at Tannen’s magic camp.

He cites magical legends such as Vernon, Marlo and Hamman as inspirations, as well as modern-day contemporaries such as Bannon, Cummins, Hamburg and more.

He'll be teaching effects that have either been created by him (in conjunction with others), or that have been created by others and that he's been given permission to teach.

For example:

-- Old Faithful (Paul Cummins)
-- Jackmutation (Friedberg/George McBride)
-- Improbable v. Impossible (Cameron Francis)
-- Steve's trade show act
-- Sting Too (Tony Cabral)
-- Magician Kinda Versus Gambler (Friedberg/Tomas Blomberg)

Along the way, he'll be offering his opinions and insights, such as:

-- Why you should NEVER say, "Now, I know what you're thinking"
-- The Theory of the Unexpected Pow
-- Howie and the Elmsley
-- Being the Magic Monkey Boy at trade shows

He'll be generously offering his lecture notes to us for the reduced price of $10 (usually $25)

Please register at the following link to attend this lecture... https://goo.gl/t4BdRL

I'm grateful to Steve for offering up his time, talent and energy to share his knowledge of magic with the members of our forum!!

See you guys there!

Rudy

I am really looking forward to Sunday. I had the good fortune to spend some time on-line with Steve last week. He shared some of the material that will be featured in his lecture. The effects were loaded with surprises and presentational nuance.

I urge my fellow MFers not to miss this opportunity!

Unfortunately I can't make it. It's my in-laws anniversary and we're taking them out for dinner.

By the way...Dan Waterman demonstrated one of your packet tricks for me last night (Zombies).

It was "killer"!!

Okay, so let's say my priorities change or somehow we get home by 4pm.

Should I sign up now and have the space?
Or should I not sign up because if I can't show up, I'm using up a space that someone else could be taking?

So far, we haven't reached 100 registrants for the lectures that we've had. Not that Steve won't set a record, but I think that it's safe to take a space. If we hit 100, I'll upgrade my account to facilitate more folks.

I hope that you can make it, Dan (without putting yourself in the dog house, of course) [smile]

No animals were harmed in the making of this lecture.  Several cards were destroyed, however.

Better yet, I hope that those who do attend take something from what I'll be talking about.  If they do, that'll be the win for me.

Steve, we have already learned from you and you haven't even started!

See you tomorrow!

Is there an estimation on how long it is going to be?

3 hours too, like Steven Youell's?

Nice lecture.  I personally appreciate the one hour format, as I have other items I need to attend to with family etc.  Also the blending of theory with effects is great.  Love theory.

Thank you again Steve for presenting and Rudy for coordinating.

Excellent Lecture!  Thanks you Steven for your knowledge and work.  And Rudy for setting it up.

Very fast paced.  Packed a ton of material in an hour.  Not only entertaining and educational but really fun!

And hearing from a working professional provided the feel that Steven goes through during his performances.

Just great.  Thanks again!

EXCELLENT!!! The material and theory that you shared was very valuable and I'm sure that I speak for all of us when I say that your sacrifice of time and energy is much appreciated.

For those who experienced technical difficulties trying to log on. I'll start another thread as we try and trouble shoot what's going on.

Close to 40 people attended this lecture and signed on using PC's, iPhones and iPads. I'd like to work out the bugs one last time before I switch to a different video interface.

Thanks to all who attended. You'll be getting (as well as all those who registered) a link to the YouTube video of Steve's lecture.

Until next time...

Rudy

I've been trying for over an hour to get on and can't. Says I'm on call, but I can't see or hear anything. Rudy tried to help, but to no avail. I'm sick about it.

Hey, guys...
Thanks to those who attended.  If you're interested in buying my notes, which covers all of the stuff you saw during the lecture and more, my PayPal is stevepr104@gmail.com.  The notes are $10, regularly $25.  And I'd be glad to discuss them with you one-on-one.

Steve, You did a great job. The choice of material was very smart, and I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts on taking on the responsibility of making magic your own. The handling of Dr. Daley's Last Trick was very well managed. Smart use of sleights to get a great kicker ending.

Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Steve for sharing. Your handling of the flushtration count was eye-opening to me and I immediately felt that this was a much better way to do it. So thanks a lot!
