Hi Everyone, One of the things that I've enjoyed about our forum is the online video sessions that we've had. Some of our members have actually become friends over the last several months as we talk about magic and life. Unfortunately, up to this point the sessions have been sporadic and I haven't done a good job of giving our members the time necessary to plan ahead and be able to put these meetings on their schedule. Because of that, I'm going to have a regularly scheduled, online gathering that we'll be calling The Saturday Sessions. All members are welcome to join us, but only Inner Circle members (100 post minimum) will be able to take part in the face-to-face aspect of the session. For now, these sessions will take place every other weekend beginning tomorrow afternoon at 2pm (Pacific). This seems to be the time slot that allows the most people from around the world to attend. I'll be using Google Hangouts for these sessions for now. Here is the link to register for tomorrow's gathering:https://goo.gl/3o7XO4 I look forward to seeing you all then! Rudy

I already registered for tomorrow's session but I need to take my son to the doctor and I am waiting to hear from the doctor to see if I can actually make it on time for the session.

Rudy, I haven't been on before, so could you explain what this means? Thanks!

Thanks Gareth. I'd love it if others would chime in with other subjects/tricks they'd like to talk about.
See you soon!

He is ok Rudy, thanks! It is just a regular check-up appointment with maybe a change in medicine so he is better. But at the time the session starts I may be in the middle of it, so I guess I'll miss part or all of the session depending on how long it takes for us to get out of the doctor's office and come back. It is on the other side of the city and it is about a 40-minute ride. In any case, have fun guys and learn a lot. I will see you next time...

Great session guys! Tons of fun, and some great material shared. I'm looking forward to this being a regular fixture. I just really want to encourage everyone to come join in if you can. It's a really good opportunity to learn from people and get good feedback on what you do. Everyone is supportive and encouraging, there's some great magic to watch.

Hi Fellas, What a great time! We talked about a couple of sandwich effects, Mike Powers shared two great tricks fromhis column in the Linking Ring, Chi Han taught us an ace spelling routine that begins with the vanish of four aces and I showed how I handle the Inferno Cards. Thanks to all who joined us. You'll have to fast forward up to the 8 minute mark. Here is the link:

Oh no, we didn't see this in time. Hopefully you made it. What usually happens is that when the session starts, you can join anytime it's going on (it ran for an hour and a half today). You click on the link in Rudy's original post, it should bring you to a page where you can sign in to join the session.

Rudy just watched and thank you for the effort you put in for getting this accomplished. I found something helpful in watching, that is when doing Lorayne's One Eyed Jacks, ( I use the red aces or black aces spec's choice as part of a series of ace routines) using the joker explaining it is a "wild" card" instead of an unknown indifferent card makes it play better for me. Thanks for the idea. Barry

Chi Han, that is Martin Lewis's version of the Collins Aces, which he calls "Spelling Collins Aces" ... except that he eliminates the Glide vanish for most of the aces (he uses it once but makes a virtue out of it). Other people have worked out a variety of other ways to vanish the aces for this trick.

Great session thoroughly recommended
This really differentiates this forum from others (which was a question I asked Rudy when he first set it up).
Looking forward to many more ... and being able to share properly in future.
All the best

Hi Rudy. I just "lurked" on the Saturday Session. What a great experience. Michael Powers reminded me not to forget about the crimp, and showed us how powerful it can be. Makes me wonder what other underused techniques I'm missing out on. Time to open some of those older books. Thanks again Ian

I attended my first Forum Saturday Session today and it was great. The Spokane Magic Club (Ring 225) has very similar sessions once a month (on Saturdays!). It is a great opportunity to learn and teach. We encourage beginners and young magicians to attend so they can get some one on one instruction. And we're not limited to showing tricks. We may wander off into other topics like ethics, stage presence, favorite performers, or where ever the discussion leads. I highly recommend this idea for other clubs, rings, and assemblies. ~Jon

Hi all. Once again thanks Rudy for setting up today's session. My laptop's wifi was really patchy and kept dropping out, so i had to switch to my phone and my lovely wife acted as camera-woman (there really should be an International Magician's Wives/Partners Day, they really are a patient lot!!). I missed Mike's early section but will watch back. Then near the end the battery on my phone died, that was the reason for my unceremonious exit. Thanks for helping out with the sandwich switch. Aronson mentions Bro John Hamman's Sandwich switch (desert Seminar Lecture March 1981), David Oestereicher's Sandwich switch and his own Funski Flipover Switch. I had hoped to go into these in a bit more detail but my technological travails prevented me. Art Decko really is an excellent book. His creditting and referencing are exemplary. This is the Aronson book to get when you don't use his stack. Technology will be sorted next time. Thanks again Gareth

What is the equipment of choice to participate in the online sessions? I'm not a big fan of the built-in web cams and it appears to me that the Logitech C920 may be a good choice. Obviously I can use the built-in microphone or should I look for some standalone equipment (I have a Snowball). Any guidance would be appreciated.

Indeed it was an excellent session. I'm a bit isolated in La Porte IN. It's a great way to get together with other magicians to share and jam. Kudos to Rudy for making this happen. He spends a lot of time making this forum excellent. Intensely Magic asked about web cams. Logitech makes some excellent cameras for on-line video sessions. Check Amazon for good prices, fast delivery and a rating system. Mike
