Vanishing Inc. is a company founded by two magicians, Andi Gladwin and Joshua Jay.

In addition to offering the sale of merchandise, they publish a free e-magazine every month.

I noticed a really great series of articles by Ian Kendall.  Ian covers a number of issues related  to the performance of magic.  Very worthwhile advice and hopefully will give you ideas on how to improve your work.   Check it out.

The points Ian makes are well-founded.  I, as part of my job, have given presentations to architects, engineers and contractors for more than 30 years.  Early on, I was fortunate to have received training on effective presentations.  It helped my magic as well as my sales presentations.  Sales presentations really are a performance and you are trying to form a connection with the audience not unlike theater or movie actors.  Being able to control attention, insert pauses for effect, change the pitch of your voice, speak in a "stage whisper"  etc. are all components of a successful performance.  Pay attention to your "physical" presentation.  How do you come across?  How is your posture?  How can you use physical movements to punch up your performance?

They also have a nice collection of free downloads, including samples from some of their books, collections of essays, guidelines for new magicians, etc.   I'm impressed by the quality of everything they produce.

Vanishing Inc has a free download of their 10 year anniversary bundle that is over 2 hours long with some fantastic effects which includes  an Alex Elmsley lecture.

I listen to their podcast, it's hosted by a UK magician name Damion Jennings, it is always fun. They are on a break right now, but they have a backlog of interviews that are a lot of fun. They should be posting new episodes soon.

I'm not shilling for them but I have to say that the free downloads section on their website is worth checking out.

https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-downloads/free-magic-downloads/

There are several good tricks to be found and the approx. 555 page book Mind in Magic is a must-read. This book gathers a ton of essays on magic. How we think and act, how the audience thinks, the too perfect theory and much, much more.

Check it out!

Well done RayJ. Good to see this aspect of Vanishing Inc back in the fresh air. I get regular emails from them---currently every day---and I always check out the free stuff, just in case something's slipped by.

"Magic In Mind" is terrific, even if some of the essayists are a bit up their own earole.

But it's good stuff and there's no arguing with the price.
