Wow.. I've never seen anything like it in my life!  I did my first order with Penguin yesterday.  I get two videos.  One with two gentlemen smiling holding up a "Thanks for the Order" sign with my name on it.  And another video of my item being packed; actually shows my packing slip with my name on it as well!  I'm amazed!

Yes Jennifer, they do that at Penguin Magic... They have been doing that for a few years now. It's a nice touch to know your magic is coming to you and watching it being packed just makes you want to have that magic already in your possession.

I am guessing the animated gif above has to be saved for everyone's first name on a hard drive .. can't imagine them shooting that one every single time 😉

I believe the "Thanks for the order" one is done with computer magic, but the packaging videos they send at random intervals seem to be legitimate. I think I got one for my first order with them too. It's a nice touch.

First, I think it is a great idea. Very nice.
Secondly, a clue that this might be a little computer magic might be the white board in the back with August on it.

My first order was 12 red decks of Bicycle Elite Maidenback Marked cards, sealed in Mnemonica order.  Getting ready to do all the wonderful memdeck magic 😋. Some crazy stuff you can do with marked stacked deck lol.

I’ve bought quite a few things from them, and their customer service is great. I had one instance where something was wrong, it wasn’t even a mistake on their part, the product was just crap, and they just asked for a few photos and gave me a credit towards something else. So what is this Penguin Foundation? Something about teaching sick kids magic? That’s a great idea.

I love the videos. It’s great because you can rest assured that they didn’t forget to pack something. And once you get the video - you know it’ll be at your house real soon.

Did you go with regular or jumbo indexes? I've been considering te latter.

Thanks.....
Steve

Oh I went with the regular index.  I've never used jumbo index in card magic.  Never thought about using jumbo index before.  Why are you thinking about jumbo?  How do you fan and show the cards that way? 😋

The Penguin Maxx is a nice day and a half convention. They book excellent talent and only $59. I also like the 5 for $99 specials. Another great value from Penguin.

I'm old and my audience tends to be old. I also tend to think the larger indexes are more suited to online sessions. I've even considered the "parlor" size cards for certain situations.

I think jumbo indexes are common enough that they won't look like a prop. I recall there was a time that some would argue that poker size cards look like props since no one used them. If you were at a friends house and someone handed you a deck of cards, it was very likely a bridge size deck with "Delta" or some other ad on the back. Held 'em changed that.

I have a penguin deck that I had stripped. It's been fun to play with. I'll never use it as my regular deck, unless until age issues work their inevitable hand issues.

Hah I just placed an order too, and there are my multiple color NOCs and Svengali deck. Buying playing cards is my stress reducer. Just picking up a deck of Standards when I’m at the drugstore is therapeutic. They don’t have to be fancy. Kind of like a pack of cigarettes I guess, the thrill of opening something brand new. But I wanted a Bicycle Svengali deck anyway because the one I have is the COPAG 310 deck which used to be my favorite cards but I’ve gotten used to a more standard thickness so I want my trick decks to be USPCC now.

I also have a stripper deck, but I don’t use it much because do I really have to look carefully card by card edge by edge and put them all back the same after every attempt at a trick?

Super cool isn't it!  It's one thing I love about ordering from Penguin Magic.

Never mind all those "unboxing videos" all over youtube - I much prefer to see a "inboxing video" where I get to see my own order being packaged! 😉

I have a camera in my mailbox so I can see the package as the postal carrier delivers it.

Never ordered from Penguin Magic. Didn't even know they did that.

Interesting.
