Stumbled over this on Genii forum. Might be of interest.

Jack Shalom was a member here, but he seems to have disappeared.

I memorized mnemonica deck in 24 hours using Rick Lax's video. I doubt I could do better with any other scheme.  I have ordered Tamariz' Mnemonica book and should be getting it soon. I know it goes over memorization techniques but I already got that.  The book has a bunch of tricks in it for the stack and I'm looking forward to it.

Well I have to reply to this since I have been getting into The Redford Stack.  For my purposes, this stack is a winner for me.

You can within seconds get into Si Stebbens from it then back to Redford with the same amount of time using same formula, standing up even.  It looks like you are just shuffling the deck.

You can also get into a Memorized Stay Stack, entirely within hands in like 30 seconds, and back to Redford in the same time.  Again looks like shuffling.  Compare this to Mnemonica, which requires a tabled routine to get back into Stay Stack which is not memorized (i.e. does not preserve any of the bottom 26 card locations).  The Redford Memorized Stay Stack preserves all card locations of bottom 26 cards.  To find soulmate of card in upper half of deck you just use following formula (53 - card_location).  E.g. soul mate of king of clubs.. it's card 41.  53-41 = 12.  The king of spades is the 12th card down in stack.   So just by knowing Redford you know the entire locations of every card in Stay Stack as well!  Imagine what you can do with that.. there are a ton of stay stack tricks.  And again it's so easy to get into it standing up in seconds.

You can get into Si Stebbens in like 30 seconds form US NDO and it looks liek shuffling.. 2 faros.  And from there 15 secs to get into Redford Stack.  15 seconds to get back to Si Stebbens if you like.. again just OHS shuffle.

Top 21 cards of Redford stack are alternating red/black.  Which is handy for some tricks I guess.

The Redford Stack is like a swiss army knife for the stand up / street magician..  can be standard deck, memdeck, si stebbens or memorized stay stack.

Just found out recently from Tim Heinlein on Patrick Redford's Facebook group that Juan Tamariz himself switched to a Si Stebbens like deck , 2 faros.. for all the above reasons I presume.. he details The Exhibition Deck in DVD two of $150 Magic From My Heart set.  I haven't seen it, I'm good with Redford.. Probably has all the same advantages; Redford has a good following and has an affordable $60 book for his Stack along with excellent support in Facebook group.  Juan stil does Mnemonica on TV but for family, friends and other magicians he uses his own newer/better more evolved stack similar to Redford.

I'm still happy I bought the Mnemonica book because 95% of that book applies or can be adapted to Redford.  I still know both stacks, but will use Redford all the time so I don't know if I will eventually forget Mnemonica.
