I hope that you can join me!

Here's the link to download the necessary app... https://www.zoom.us/download

Thanks Axel!

I just tried a test meeting with myself (with my iPhone as the participant) and it worked very well. I'm hoping that this meeting will be less about testing the functionality of the app and more about having a fun session!

Please note that there is the need to download the app...

https://www.zoom.us/download

See you soon, my friend!

Rudy

Oh,...

I was thinking it would be just a technical testing...oh no, haven´t practiced for some time...oh no, I don´t know what to perform...can´t stand this pressure!!...

Just kidding...although...

I´l have to try out my mic settings because that was the problem the last few times, normally I have all settings set down so I have to try which one I have to turn on...and allow to control my mic...at least hope to see and to hear you, my friend (..and try to be worthy your Thanks-Giving-All-Around-Thanks!!!!)

See you later,

Axel

I could have made it ... but our office photocopier has just gone down and I need to go to Staples to get 300 test papers printed for tomorrow morning [mad]

The world is conspiring to keep me away from TMF online sessions.  Have a good one!

We will miss you, Johnny. I’ll send you the recording if it all works out.

I think, all things considered, that was the best platform yet. Certainly on my iphone was very good. Just one little moment where the sounds went a bit strange at beginning of the finsl effect you showed Rudy.

I joined the last few minutes from an iPhone in a taxi in London and the picture/sound/ability to see other participants was excellent.
Full support from this side of the pond.
Thanks for all you do, Rudy

As I said on the chat part of Zoom, the video was almost perfect, but the audio had a few glitches but nothing that you cannot live with... I hope it is not that expensive to use this platform instead of Hangouts... And some great ideas were shared in this session as well...

Looking forward to the next one...

And a technical question... can you tell me what you have activated on your PC to have the microphone working?

Zoom asked me if I wanted to test my mike and I tested all 4 options it gave me and nothing worked. If I have an idea of what to activate or if I have to install new drivers, then I'll do it.

Thanks for your help and Thank you Rudy for this test!

Read my email at 4:05 and was on the session about 5 min later. It worked VERY well, I thought. My sound was off initially. I found the little up arrow next to the microphone icon in the lower left corner. When you click the arrow, it shows you your choices of mic. I have many due to my sound card and other items. When I clicked the camera's mic, my audio was heard.

All in all a very successful session. As Rudy mentioned, it's only $14.95/month. My wife will be needing video conferencing for an online course she's teaching. I think this is the ONE!

Sorry for not being ready to rock with my trick for show and tell! I'll be ready next time.

Hi Everyone,

One of the unique benefits of the Magician's Forum are the online video sessions that I call the Saturday Sessions. These are virtual magic sessions where the members of our forum can gather to talk about magic and life.

Unfortunately, up to this point the sessions have been sporadic and I haven't done a very good job of giving our members the time necessary to plan ahead and be able to put these meetings on their schedule. It's also been difficult because I hadn't quite found a video conferencing platform that meets my (our) needs.

That has now changed. Me and some of the members of our forum did a test run of a software called Zoom this afternoon and it worked great!!

You can watch the recording for yourself at the following link:

We talked about the pass (including some tips from Mike Powers and Jim Krenz). I shared a fun (silly) way to reveal a selected card that works for kids and adults, as well as an effect by Harry Lorayne that I'll be featuring on the third volume of the HaLo Project.

What you'll see in the video is a casual, fun, and informative environment where we can learn magic and also build relationships with the members of our Magician's Forum community.

I hope that it will inspire and encourage you to join us at our next gathering.

I'm wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and prosperous 2019!!

Your friend in magic,

Rudy

I wasn't able to watch the whole thing, but the parts I saw were good and informative.  The video seemed to be really good as well as the audio.  I think this is great to see the camera switching between various members as they add bits of advice or ask questions about stuff that is being discussed.  It's the next best thing to actually sessioning with other magicians in person.

There's an option "spotlight my video when I speak". Sounds interesting, but my attempts to understand their FAQ were futile. I think I understood that the administrator can override this setting.

Does anyone have a better (i.e. any) grasp on this option?

I'll look into this and see what I can find.

Thanks for asking.

Hey Rudy.
Glad it worked good. I told you it is an awesome option. Sorry I could not get away from work to help test it.

The spotlight feature is kind of odd. If you have multiple attendees, it can be nice. When someone starts talking their "icon" is highlighted. It makes it nice when there are a lot of users and you don't know people's voices. Makes it nice to know who is talking. The biggest issue is that if you are presenting full screen and someone talks, it can take over the screen while they are talking. If there is a presentation it will override, but if we all just have cameras going then the highlight jumps to who ever is talking.
I found an example that shows it here. Notice the highlight around the guy in the middle of the top row?

Hope this helps and I am anxious to participate in a session, now that the quality will be so good. Ha
